Our treatments use what we refer to as integrated pest management (IPM) techniques that allow us to "work smart" by using an appropriate combination of  available tools to achieve control with the least amount of resources. There is no specific "recipe" for IPM. A successful program doesn't simply start with "step one" and proceed in a prescribed order to the final step. Logically, the first step is identifying the type of ant and the extent of their infestation. The remaining steps depend on the particular situation. In order to implement an effective IPM program, we must properly identify the ant infestations and appropriate control measures.

Vital steps to our IPM program include:
Inspection, identification, exclusion, sanitation, elimination and monitoring. Inspecting infested buildings and surrounding areas; identifying the specific ant and their populations; excluding these pests from buildings; identifying sanitation concerns that may provide pests with food, water and shelter; and recommending and implementing control measurers specific to the identified ant and their infestation site.

DID YOU KNOW .......?

• Spraying some species of ants will cause the queens to 'bud out' making the problem worse.
• It takes a carpenter ants nest approximately 5-7 years to reach maturity.  By the time you notice them, they are generally well established and possibly living in void areas of your wall, floor or ceiling.
• Spraying is generally not the best control measure for ants. Sometimes it appears the ants 'disappear' after spraying them, however, they may have just relocated to another area you can't now see them.  Baiting is a good IPM technique for ants of all species.
